It is with a heavy heart that I write this email to officially inform you that our wonderful Summer Show will not be able to take place next month on the 4th July due to restrictions imposed to control COVID 19. This spring has seen so many diary entries diaries crossed out – we had hoped that restrictions would be lifted and we could get back to normality but to no avail. The society is in good financial health and can weather this storm – we have lost some small sums to pre-booked items such as the bouncy castle and face painting. As so much of the work of putting on the show is done by the committee, the members and the community as a whole – not much will be lost. I am sad that we, as members, have missed out on trips to Wisley, Kew Gardens and Ham House. The committee had also begun to line up a brewery visit, an evening wine tasting and several pub trips. I do hope that as restrictions are lifted we can start to arrange some more activities for you. In the meantime, I do hope that you share you creations #petershamhorti in instagram – we would love to see what you’ve been up to. With kind regards Emily Petersham Horticultural Society President |
