Although the current #BeastfromtheEast weather doesn’t feel very spring-like, the Society is holding its Annual Spring Talk on Monday 5 March at 7pm in the Village Hall, Bute Avenue. We are delighted to welcome Ken MacKenzie and Jo Chambers from the Petersham Conservators, the group who oversee the management of Petersham Common. This 17-acre wooded area on the slopes of Richmond Hill is an important local habitat and amenity but I suspect many of us know little about its past history and what is involved in its upkeep. Ken MacKenzie, who will be familiar to many of you, is the Woodland Manager for the area, while Jo Chambers (also very familiar to many of you!) is one of the Conservators who volunteer their service to manage the woodland.
Please join us in the village hall for this opportunity to learn more about this unique local area, as well as meeting up with members of the PHS committee over lovely home-made nibbles and a glass of wine. The talk is, as ever, FREE for members but we are very happy for non-members to come along too, with a small in-kind donation to the summer show Bottle Stall! Alternatively, we are always extremely pleased to join up new members on the door, for the princely sum of £3 per adult, or £5 per family per annum, which will also give you free entry to our Summer Show on Saturday 7 July 2018.
